Elwood Cricket Club 2012/13 social calendar

August 15, 2012 No Comments

The Social Committee has been hard at work so far, in this our 40th year of the Elwood Cricket Club, to organize many events that will fill the 2012/13 Social Calendar.

SOCIAL CALENDAR EVENTS IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER

  • Friday 21st — Sunday 23rd of September 2012 Elwood preseason trip to Ballarat vs Golden Point Cricket Club.
  • Sunday 7th of October 2012 Elwood Cricket Club season launch at the clubrooms vs CMCA select side in a Twenty20.
  • Tuesday the 6th of November, 2012 Melbourne Cup Day at the clubrooms.
  • Sunday the 9th of December 2012 Elwood’s own Six-a-Side Day at the clubrooms.
  • Saturday the 2nd of February 2013 Elwood’s 40th Anniversary Night at the clubrooms (and the introduction of the Hall of Fame).
  • Saturday the 2nd of March 2013 the Ray “Stinger” Howard Medal at the clubrooms.
  • Saturday the 6th of April 2013 Elwood Cricket Clubs presentation night (location TBC).

As you can see from the above, it is going to be a very busy year socially. But to add to the above events, there will be many other on going activities, for the following we will need some help:

  • Selection night meals. These meals will be at 8pm every Selection Night at the clubrooms. I am looking for 11 people to offer to cook.
  • Pick a Card. It’s a pretty simple concept. You purchase a card out of a standard playing card deck for $20 every Saturday night after a game, we will draw three cards out at 7pm. First prize is likely to be a bar voucher for $50. Second Prize is likely to be a free meal at La Piazza Restaurant. Third Prize is likely to be a free beer or two free soft drinks. (THE ONLY RULE YOU NEED TO KNOW, IF YOU PLAYED CRICKET FOR ELWOOD CC ON THAT DAY AND YOU ARE NOT AT THE CLUBROOM, THE CLUB KEEPS YOUR PRIZE). To purchase a card please contact Marshall.
  • The Elwood Dart Competition. Elwood is also running bi-annually darts competition, the plan for this is still a little vague but more details will be out soon.

As I’ve mentioned above, this is going to be a very busy year for Elwood Cricket Club. All I ask is that you make your best efforts to attend the functions and read and respond to the material sent out.
